Although the Madden NFL 24PA had been informing players for a few years to make savings in the event of an unplanned strike, keep in mind what I said: a majority of Madden NFL 24 team is an average-level player. They're not prepared to face a strike. They've never put the money back, and some of it because they're young and/or don't have the capacity to. Many veterans who speak in a big way aren't equipped for that. It's something that's always a concern during these talks.

Nobody is always satisfied with a labor agreement -- in any negotiation there is a chance for both sides to give a little and get a little. That said, I'd have been a 'yes' vote for this CBA even though I'm aware of the limitations.

The owners' money is what they care about. They don't want the time spent in practice or testing for street drug use, which is the reason they were willing to concede those points. They didn't receive enough in return for a 17th match, however.

They required a higher share of revenue over 48.5 percent. They needed an extra week off to allow for playing an additional game. They needed more roster spots and a larger increase of the active list for gamedays than they received.

There's a lot of debate about the nature of the benefits for any retired athlete. Some might argue that it's enough in the present, as Carl Eller, president of the Madden NFL 24 Retired Players Association is doing here.
